How We Verify Exam Requirements: Our Method
1. Why Verification Matters
Every year, tens of thousands of applicants face portal rejection or delayed admit cards due to minor technical discrepancies in uploaded photographs and signatures: a signature file that is 22KB instead of under 20KB, an incorrect aspect ratio, or wrong pixel dimensions.
ToolKB was built to solve this problem accurately, quickly, and privately. To ensure our exam presets are trustworthy, we follow a systematic process for researching and updating specifications.
2. Our Research Methodology
We do not rely on second-hand blog posts or rumors. All presets on ToolKB are compiled through primary source analysis:
- Official Notification PDFs: We examine the original Information Bulletins and Employment Notices published directly by exam bodies (such as SSC, UPSC, NTA, IBPS, and RRB).
- Portal Upload Interfaces: Where available, we inspect active portal upload guidelines, error messages, and server validation criteria during open application windows.
- Technical Parameter Extraction: We extract five essential criteria for each preset:
- Minimum and maximum file size (in KB).
- Required pixel dimensions (width x height) or physical dimensions (cm/inches).
- Permitted image file formats (JPG/JPEG, PNG).
- Aspect ratio constraints.
- Background color and compositional rules (e.g. light/white background, 80% face coverage, no eyeglasses/caps).
3. What "Verified" Means and Does Not Mean
[+] What It Means
- The preset matches the published specifications in the official exam notification at the time of our latest review.
- Our client-side compression algorithm strictly bounds the generated file to the designated KB range.
- The canvas crops or resizes the image to the exact pixel dimensions required by that preset.
[x] What It Does Not Mean
- It is not an endorsement or official certification from the examining authority.
- It does not guarantee portal acceptance if the authority silently updates its server-side upload script during an exam cycle.
- It cannot fix blurry source photos, poor lighting, or photos violating facial visibility guidelines.

5. How to Report a Changed Specification
Exam bodies occasionally release corrigendums or update their portal validation without issuing a public press release. If you notice a changed requirement in a current notification bulletin, please help us keep ToolKB accurate for all candidates:
