1. Introduction & Core Philosophy
At ToolKB, we take a privacy-first approach to online utilities. This Cookie and Browser Storage Policy explains how and why we use cookies, local storage (LocalStorage), and client-side database storage (IndexedDB) when you visit our website.
We do not track you across the web, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your data. Every storage mechanism implemented on ToolKB is designed to either measure high-level website usage or enable essential, client-side tool functionality.
2. Browser Cookies We Use
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by your web browser. ToolKB uses only first-party and performance-related analytics cookies:

No Advertising or Tracking Cookies: We do not deploy third-party advertising scripts, remarketing tags, or tracking pixels (such as Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, or Google Ads conversion trackers).
3. Client-Side Browser Storage (LocalStorage & IndexedDB)
Unlike cookies, browser storage technologies like localStorage and IndexedDB store data directly within your browser sandbox without automatically transmitting it back to web servers on every HTTP request.
ToolKB uses these technologies solely to ensure a smooth, uninterrupted user experience for specific tools:

Session Storage (sessionStorage): We use an ephemeral session key (toolkb_support_session_v1) to manage support prompt frequency and prevent repetitive popups during your browsing session. This key contains only a numeric cooldown timestamp and a boolean dismissal flag. It contains zero personal identifiers, filenames, or file contents, does not persist across separate browser sessions, and is automatically cleared when you close your browser tab.
4. Hosting & Technical Infrastructure
ToolKB is hosted on Vercel's global network. Standard Content Delivery Network (CDN) edge nodes and security layers may set transient security tokens or routing cookies strictly necessary for load balancing, DDoS mitigation, and SSL/TLS termination. These headers and tokens are strictly functional and do not contain personal user data.
5. How to Manage, Block, or Clear Cookies & Storage
You have full control over all data stored on your device:
- Clearing Tool Drafts: You can clear saved invoice drafts at any time by clicking the "Reset / Clear" button directly inside the GST Invoice Maker.
- Browser Settings: You can configure your browser to block cookies, alert you when cookies are sent, or clear all stored site data (cookies, LocalStorage, and IndexedDB) via your browser's Privacy & Security preferences.
- Google Analytics Opt-Out: You can install the official Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on to disable GA4 measurement across all websites.
Note: If you block all local browser storage, tools requiring draft preservation (such as the invoice generator) will continue to calculate and download files, but will not retain your draft inputs between tab refreshes.
