SSC & IBPS Photo and Signature Size Requirements 2026

Published October 2026 · 6 min read
Every year, thousands of SSC and IBPS applications get held up at the upload step — not because of eligibility, but because of a photo or signature file that doesn't match the KB limit. Here are the exact 2026 requirements and how to meet each one in under a minute.

The 2026 requirements at a glance

Compiled from 2026 recruitment notifications. Always confirm against your own notification — specs change every cycle.

  • SSC GD Constable 2026: photograph 20–50KB (~200×230 px); signature 10–20KB (~140×60 px)
  • SSC CGL 2026: photograph captured live in the application module; signature 10–20KB (~6.0×2.0 cm)
  • SSC CHSL 2026: signature 10–20KB JPG
  • SSC JHT 2026: photograph 20–50KB; signature 10–20KB
  • IBPS PO 2026: photograph 20–50KB (200×230 px); signature 10–20KB (140×60 px); thumb impression 20–50KB (240×240 px); handwritten declaration 50–100KB (800×400 px)
  • UPSC CSE 2026: photograph 20–200KB (75% face, white background); signature 20–100KB

Signatures: the file you'll actually need to prepare

Notice the pattern: SSC and IBPS have both moved to live photo capture for 2026, which means the photograph is taken inside the application portal itself. What you still need to upload yourself is the scanned signature at 10–20KB — and for IBPS, the handwritten declaration at 50–100KB.

Sign in black ink on plain white paper, photograph it in good light from directly above, and crop away every bit of empty margin. Margins are the number one reason a signature won't squeeze into 20KB — blank paper still costs bytes.

If the form gives a range, target the top

When a notification says “10–20KB”, don't aim for 10. Target 20KB — the top of the range. A file at the top of the allowed range always passes validation and looks noticeably better than one scraping the bottom.

Dimensions matter as much as kilobytes

IBPS wants the signature at roughly 140×60 pixels; SSC describes 6.0×2.0 cm. A file can be exactly 20KB and still get rejected if its proportions look wrong. Set the pixel dimensions first with a resize tool, then compress to the KB target.
