What is EXIF metadata?
When you take a photo with a smartphone or digital camera, it automatically saves hidden data inside the image file. This metadata (called EXIF data) often includes the exact GPS coordinates of where the photo was taken, the date and time, your phone model, and camera settings.
Why should I remove image metadata?
Removing EXIF data protects your privacy. If you share an original photo online or send it to someone, they can easily view the hidden metadata to find out exactly where you live or when the photo was taken. Cleaning your images before sharing ensures your location and device details remain private.
Is my photo uploaded to a server to be cleaned?
No. ToolKB cleans your photos locally in your own web browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your image is never uploaded to any server, as the file remains locally on your device during conversion.
